It's Time to get ready for a weekend of fun and sun on the Water in fact thank you Lord we are going to have 2 Days in a row that are Sunshiny days but are they perfect boating days to be on the water?

Everyone just find a ramp that you can handle your Boat in the Wind if it blows and if the Fish don't bite just being on the Water sure has to beat just about anything else you may have planned!
I wish I could be with you!
If you happen to have to work this weekend the Tides will be strong all next week with 1.7 and 1.8 differentials all week!
I want to propose a possible win win situation once again if I haven't in the past for the City of Fairhope!
I was doing some thinking today about Revenue for the City and small businesses in Fairhope and Accessibility for the Boat Owner that I would like to list some figures for that are amazing!
I was considering the Pier Street Landing Boat Ramps and their considerable worth to the City of Fairhope, Baldwin County the State of Alabama, Small Business Owners and most importantly the Citizens of the Area.
I have a little experience with Boat Ramps as my Father owned one on Battleship Parkway and I decided to run some hypothetical numbers and share them with you with an accompanying proposal to increase Accessibility on a greater number of days per year!
Conservatively the Pier Street Boat ramps on a beautiful weekend with light or Easterly winds and Clear Sky's easily handles 100 Boat Launchings a Day.
The Average Boat that is launched at Pier Street is 21 feet in Length.
*1. Fuel Capacity is conservatively 40 gallons per Boat.
*My 21' Bay liner Walk-Around Cuddly carried 100 gallons.
*My 17' Negus that I currently own carries 30 gallons.
That said those 100 Boat Owners Conservatively and hypothetically purchase 4000 gallons of Fuel Per Trip out into Mobile Bay or $10,360.00 worth of Fuel.
Multiply that number based on such weekends just by the 200 boats that conservatively launch on Boating Perfect Weekends and the small businesses in the City of Fairhope stand to collect *$20,720.00 in gross sales on the fuel alone!
*Based on my own experience my purchases of fuel for my boat are and always have been to a higher percentage near the Boat Ramp I intend on using to Launch my Boat.
I would think a large percentage of Boat Owners do the same thing. The government officials in office and that work for the City of Fairhope I'm sure could put a much more accurate figure on the amount of revenue based on percentages at their disposal of exactly how many Boat Owners do as I do and have seen done through out my Boating Life Experience.
Hypothetically we are talking 8000 gallons of Fuel purchased by the conservative number of 200 launchings per day by Boat Owners using The Pier Street Boat Ramps just on 2 Boating Perfect Days.
Most likely that fuel is purchased if not in Fairhope definitely in Baldwin County, Alabama!
Hypothetically and Conservatively those Boat Owners and their guests will also purchase another $50.00 of Food, Beverages, Bait and other items needed to enjoy their day on the Water!
Using such conservative numbers that totals another $10,000.00 for such a Weekend!
The Sales Taxes alone Total roughly figures $825.00 for such a 2 day weekend with 200 Launchings.
*Note: I personally feel the three figures to be low for an Average.
Their are many other thousands of dollars spent hopefully as the fuel, food, beverages, bait and other comfort items for such a boating perfect weekend of 2 days for the Boat, Boat Trailer, Marine Engines and even the Vehicle that tows these boats to the Water and the Ramp at Pier Street Landing that are purchased as stated in the City of Fairhope or at the very least Baldwin County and the State of Alabama!
The exact figure of Federal, State, County and City taxes collected on these purchases I do not have at my disposal as I write this post but the figure as it is dispersed among the different agencies and pooled for improvements would have to be considerable just for 2 Boating Perfect Days a year now if you would consider how many days a year could be considered such Perfect Boating Days to Launch at Pier Street Landing?
That is my concern and where my post is leading - exactly how do we as Citizens of Fairhope and Baldwin County increase the use of Pier Street Landing and would the investment be worth officials and employees of the City of Fairhope consider commissioning an economic feasibility study, preparing the necessary engineering for improvements and implementing a plan to acquire funding to construct improvements and finally contracting the improvement project to a contractor to construct what I believe could even be accepted by Citizens that have Environmental concerns?
Should the City of Fairhope consider such a project to begin with?
I believe the Answer is a definite "Yes!"
First let me restate the "Objective."
Increase the number of Boaters that use the Pier Street Boat Ramps by conservatively 25% per year or possibly under the right conditions increase the current number by 100% or more possibly doubling the number of Launchings!
The Economic impact figures could be staggering for the City of Fairhope and Baldwin County, Alabama!
The Proposed Improvement Project.
"A Small Craft Harbor to protect Boats, Boaters and their guests even on the days that are NOT perfect where just a few hours on the Water could significantly increase the Appeal of the City of Fairhope and/or the surrounding areas of Baldwin County for Boating Enthusiasts to Purchase Houses and Establish Homes and further impact the area Economy!"
Envision if you would a "Small Craft" Harbor that would allow several boats to utilize a calm water area to leave, return and await their turn to put their boats back on their boat trailers even in inclement weather with no stress or distress what-so-ever weather that may not have even been forecast for that particular day or for that matter that has but has arrived early.
The Boat Owner and their Guests would be absolutely ecstatic to have such an area close to their residence here in West-Central Baldwin County.
There is no such area as I am proposing in such an ideal location.
Accessibility my Friend's to a Launching Ramp Complex that would allow Boating Enthusiasts utilize a location that is geographically perfect to reach absolutely every area that is within the Mobile Bay, Mobile River Delta and even for many the Waters of the Gulf of Mexico in less than an Hour!
To my Friend's that work or were elected to be officials of the City of Fairhope and Baldwin County, Alabama the Economic Impact and Social Lift to the Eastern Shore of such a protected small boat harbor near or just South of the Fairhope Park and Pier would have to staggering if located at the existing Pier Street Boat Launching location!
Consider Access to the Bay for Boating Enthusiasts 365 days a year regardless of the number of hours the boating trip could be planned to last even on days many non-boaters would not even consider launching a boat but the thousands of true boating enthusiasts in our area would in fact be delighted to have to launch and use their boat!
Simply play with the numbers for 2 Perfect days and I am sure you will if not be anything but amazed if that number of days could be increased to as near the 365 in a given year as possible!
To my Friend's with the City of Fairhope: "You may already have these numbers at your disposal if so let's consider keeping the Boating Enthusiast in this Area of Baldwin County and beyond interested if not enamored with the very idea I have proposed!"
You may have already had such a thoughts and ideas cross your minds!
No longer will NEW Seats be out on the Front Display to possibly be damaged by a gust of Wind!
Seats are just too susceptible to a gust of wind blowing them half way down the Street out on that front display but I do have some on display that were blown around last fall and winter that you may find suitable for your use!

Propeller's -if at all possible bring in your old wheel as it has a number stamped on it that will help considerably in getting you the right propeller.
