As for old me "The Highlight of my Weekend was spending some time at the Gulf Shores, Alabama Public Beach 14 year's to the Day after Hurricane Ivan had made Landfall just West of that very same Public Beach wreaking havoc on the rsidents of South Alabama and in particular the people of North-West Florida or the Pensacola Area where the major damage was caused by a late blow up in intensity on the East Side of the Hurricane!"
As the Hurricane relates to my life and those in my life!
I was busy trying to recover from a wreck that should have killed me right before dark the night of the Landfall on the way home from preparing the homes that I had under Construction for my Company "Classic Southern Homes, LLC", after leaving one our Teams owned by Craig Hamilton (Electrical and Framing Trade Contractor) at my parent's home right here where I live Today!
After leaving my parent's home I passed our Model Home and our Corporate Office at the Corner of County Road 64 and 13 that Craig had helped me board up 1st thing that morning!
I continued driving on only to fall asleep at the wheel of my oldest Son's Truck hitting a ditch going airborne landing 15 feet from where I had hit the property side of the ditch only to find 5 sheets of plywood and a door that had come through the back window beating me in the back of the head while pinning my head to the steering wheel while traveling 45 mph in a Pecan Orchard.
I missed a pecan tree and several small pines Trees after waking up and tossing the materials back into the back of the truck with my right arm never slowing down!
I missed several more trees that would have killed me also and got back on the road where I found my Nextel that I had been talking to my now ex-wife on when I fell asleep on the floorboard where it had fallen to the floor out of my right hand when I fell asleep!
She was trying to talk me home but it didn't work!
I called her and she came down from our home and met me to help me take stock of my injuries so we could decide if I could drive home safely!
I had glass in the back of my neck and I guess in the top of my head and my left hand was injured from being at the top of the wheel but could that have saved my life when that is following instinct and the letter of a driving instructors preparation for your 1st driving test?
I personally don't do as your told but do as your told with your hands but when tired instinct tells me to keep that hand top dead center!
You don't want to fall asleep and one hand fall off the wheel now do you!
It's best to pull off the road and call or a cab or loved one my Friend's and work as a Team!
I drove on home where she picked the glass out of my neck and I finished boarding up our home prior to the storms landfall with my oldest Son helping me finish the job!
I should have gone to the hospital but I didn't and I spent the next couple of days recovering at home after quite a night with the eye of the Hurricane passing directly over our Home in Daphne, Alabama!
Watch the change in direction of the wind all the debris comes right back at your safe exit point that was Safe to begin the Storm!
While recovering at Home members of my team including Willie Herndon and his son my Salesman, Flooring Trade Contractor and IT - Computer Specialist in that order along with my good Friend's Danny and Brock Faircloth my Cabinet Builder's, Trim Carpenters as well as my Lock Out Specialist Trade Contractors all stopping by the house to check on my family!
While at my home they updated me on the status of the homes they had visited of their own accord for me without my knowledge or consent because we were a Team NOT a bunch of Sheep that did as we were told - in that order!
We all worked as a Damn Team with a plan to win the Damned Good Fight for our Customer's!!!!!!!!!
I get a little angry at myself for not doing a better job at times in the days and months explaining to my customers that covered properties in 4 Counties why a Federally Declared Disaster and all that goes with that to disrupt the sheduling and plan you worked tirelessly to begin with for their damn entire project including delivery of materials that now would become scarce and more expensive thus digging deeply into the contract price you had guareenteed those same valued and beloved customers that could not in most cases borrow another dime from the mortgage company because of easy and over loaned money caused by a National Economic Boom and Several Major Landfalling Hurricanes in 2004 leading to an eventual peak in 2007 and accompanying collapse of the Planet's Economy that I would later listen to a very humble and apologetic Alan Greenspan former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board during that time and prior to that time under George Bush in 2002 or 2003 had in fact to spur the Economy after the September 11th Attacks on New York, City and ensuing war did in fact approve of loosing of the Economic Rules and Regulations that would eventually lead to the collapse of the Planets Economy!
Leaving at one time more than 1000 ships at anchor in Hong Kong Harbor with no materials to load or unload from China our #1 Trading Partner!
No Russia isn't and never will be as Senator John McCain knew and Senator Joe Biden knows Today!
We are everyone's #1 Trading partner and as our economy goes so does the rest of the planet and hopefully it will stay as it has since President Franklin Roosevelt was President of The United States of America #1!
If China bumps us from being #1 and becomes #1 and our Country #2 we will have just have to bump them back down to #2 in a negotiated way as a Team not as sheep but as a Country who has leaders with the Knowledge to work as a Team and not have a Leader who Micro-Manages every detail with Sheep around him!
President Bill Clinton had Geniuses around him and they helped he and both houses of Congress Balance the Federal Budget working as a Team!
I hope I get a chance to build again because I feel I would be one damn good contractor because I have been through the Hell you need to go through on this Planet to lead an expert Team!
