1st and Foremost "Let me thank the Customer that came into the Store yesterday evening right at closing time that put me over the top for the month of September 2018!"

He bought a Penn Pursuit II Spinning Reel Combo and my last spool of J-Braid 20# 270 yard Dark Green Fishing Line!

I had a promotion going for the day of a "Free Football Drink Hugger or Coffee Cup of the Customers Choice and he Chose The University of Alabama Drink Wrap or Hugger for his Son that is coming home from The University of Alabama to go Fishing this Weekend!"

I plan to Reorder all of the J-Braid that I sold in September and I plan to add some Snap Swivels, Flounder Leader Rigs, Single and Double Leader Rigs, Single Popping Cork Leader Rigs, Hooks and Pyramid Weights as well as some Speckle Trout Trolling Rigs if my Supplier has them by the end of the 1st week in October or early in the 2nd Week of October for my Customers and Friend's!

I Emailed my Wholesale Supplier yesterday the List of the Items that I want to Order!

Engine Parts - As stated above it would definitely be better if I had your old parts on the parts counter here at the Store in order for me to better serve you!

Hopefully I have the parts you need in the Store but if not it is no problem to order most anything you need for your boat, engine or trailer and as always - your order should be in the next day if not within two days.

To Order Engine parts I need Year, Model and Serial Number.

Serial Number Particularly on Mercury Engines!

Propeller's -if at all possible bring in your old wheel as it has a number stamped on it that will help considerably in getting you the right propeller.

I will most likely ask you a few questions regarding the performance of your boat if that is one of your concerns and I will consult the Propeller Manufacturer when Necessary.

Ships Log 092818-A: Please Visit and Shop the Boating and Fishing Hardware Store!

Today's story is about my youth growing up on Hollinger's Island when I wasn't at my Grandparent's House on Robinhood Drive or over on Battleship Parkway at my Parent's Exxon Full-Service Convenience Store/Souvenir Shop or later down the Street filling in at their Self-Service Exxon Station across from Argiro's next to WUNI Radio Station!

WUNI's Building and Radio Station has survived every Hurricane and is there in that Location Today!

Let's keep it simple for Today - just a short True Story.

I had a 14' Sears Gamefisher Jon Boat with a 1976 4 Horsepower Evinrude.

I had purchased the 4 Horsepower 1976 Evinrude from Gene Stauter when he had Stauter Boat Works on Battleship Parkway across my Dad's main Full Service Exxon.

All of those Businesses mentioned above were Totally Destroyed by Hurricane Frederick except my Dad's Service Station!

The Front Wall and the Prestressed Concrete Canopy that sat on that Front wall stayed in place!

I made .50 an Hour Washing Windshields, Checking Oil and Pumping Gasoline - I also worked the Convenience Store when cars were not lined up to the Street in the Summertime!

Heck we only had 6 gas-pumps and 6 Hoses!

That Exxon Station pumped over 100,000 Gallons of Gasoline a month my Friends!

There was a time when that Convenience Store sold over 4,000 cases of Beer a Month!

That my Friend's is a lot of Beer!

K & B Drugs was our main competition!

Bill Shipp's Argiros may have sold more or less but if we were out of a particular brand we would send them to him or if he was out of a particular brand he would send them to us!

Hell he played for The University of Alabama in the Late 40's and early 1950's!

Billy Shipp 1949, 1952 and 1953 - Tackle to be exact!

Mobile, Alabama!

The aforementioned Information is taken right out of the Index of my Autographed Copy of Winston Groom's "The Crimson Tide" an "Illustrated History of The University of Alabama Football"

My Ex-Wife Valerie stood In-line in Downtown Fairhope at the Page and Palette to Purchase the Book and have it Autographed by Winston Groom!

The Book was a Christmas Gift to me that year from my Wife and Children to the best of my recolletion!

I had just completed a 3-1/2 year run of 105 Homes "sold and built" for Charles Dukes and Bill Dobbins starting in July of 1996!

That is an Average of 30 Homes a Year but let's Temper that just a bit because when Charles Dukes hired me as an Independent Subcontractor I asked him "Charlie how many homes a year do you expect me to sell and how many homes a year can I expect to sell a year?"

Charlie Dukes Reply was - "Cliff a good Salesperson isn't worth keeping and it isn't worth their time if they do not sell 20 homes a year!"

I took my $20.00 Check across the Street each week to Mr. Stauter until the Evinrude was Paid for In-Full!

12 1/2 Weeks or $250.00!

I was one proud little boy to carry that Engine back across the Street when it was paid for "In-Full!"

In the fall when the Shrimp were running I one day after asking my Dad decided to pull the 16' Shrimp Trawl behind that 14' Jon Boat!

I really enjoyed pulling that Shrimp Net out in front of my Parent's house.

I couldn't pull it quite fast enough to catch a bag of Shrimp, Crabs or Fish but I caught a few - In fact I pulled it so much times one year that I almost pulled the Transom out of my little Jon Boat!

It was a wonderful surprise every time I pulled in the net and dumped the contents of the Trawl Bag into the Galvanized Wash Tub.

I would then re-tie the bag put out out the Trawl and while pulling the Trawl I would cull the contents of the Washtub!

"What a wonderful time that was in life for 12 and 13 year-old Boy!"

My Dream was to buy a dozen Crab Baskets and catch a few Blue Crabs and sell them to Dog River Seafood that was located just North of and on the West side of the on ramp to the old Dog River Drawbridge!

That man was a wonderful man to visit with because his Son was a Green Beret in Vietnam!!!!!!!

His Bay Shrimper was docked right behind his shop his Son's Picture was on the Wall behind his Seafood Display Cases and he had the best damned Smoked Mullet you ever tasted in your life!

Dog River Seafood is now located in Bellefontaine just North of Fowl River Bridge on the West side of the Road on Dauphin Island Parkway!

On the way to Dauphin Island, Alabama!
